4 Classic Cocktails To Make During Isolation - Vodka Edition

We have put together four classic cocktails you can make in the comfort of your own home.
Classic cocktails you can make during isolation

Many of you may know this, but I’m quite partial to a drink. I’m not too picky, either. Anything but cheap own-brand spirits.

You know, the stuff that rips your throat apart and dissolves your small intestine.

I’ve had plenty of bad experiences with that – so if you ever bring one into my home, I will immediately tell you to fuck off.

But anyway, my girlfriend and I have been missing our local watering holes during the COVID-19 lock-down.

So, being the piss-heads we are, we decided to bring the bar to us instead.

Cheap tins of beer are a sound choice - but, sometimes, nothing beats a girly cocktail.

Don’t be ashamed, chaps. There’s nothing wrong with a fruity number.

But with all this furlough nonsense, we were also on a budget. So, how did we get round this?

We used the old vodka at the back of the fridge.

(Not ‘own-brand’ though, thankfully.)

@Rachesblogs made 2, and I made the other 2.

Here’s how the night went, and how we made things…

Moscow Mule:

Excellent little starter, this one. Simple. Easy. Tastes great. If you’re a fan of ginger, you’ll love it.

- Fill a glass with ice.

- 50ml vodka.

- Few dashes of lemon juice.

- Top up with ginger beer.

- Add lime wedges and a sprig of mint.

- Done.

Elegant. Classy. Non-threatening.

- Fill cocktail shaker with ice.

- 25ml vodka.

- 25ml passion fruit/orange liqueur.

- 50ml cranberry juice.

- Few dashes of lemon juice.

- Shake that baby up.

- Strain into a glass.

- Add a lemon/lime for garnish.

- My girlfriend added some glitter as well. Because, you know, why not?

Porn-Star Martini:

A girly classic. Sip on this for big-dick energy.

- Throw them ice cubes in a cocktail shaker.

- 25ml vodka.

- 25ml passion fruit liqueur.

- 50ml pineapple juice.

- 25ml sugar syrup.

- Few glugs of vanilla syrup.

- Few dashes of lemon juice.

- Shake it. I mean really shake it. You want that bad boy to froth up.

- Rub the rim of a martini glass with a cut open lime, then dip the rim in sugar. Give it a nice little coat.

- Strain drink into glass.

- Garnish with a halved passion fruit.

- Serve with a shot of prosecco.

(By the way, the drink and shot should be sipped alternately. Don’t be one of those people that pours the shot in…)

Bloody Mary:

A spicy, peppery, beautiful drink. Sip on this when having manly brunch with the boys.

- Ice in cocktail shaker.

- 50ml vodka.

- 150ml tomato juice.

- Few dashes of lemon juice.

- Few dashes of Worcestershire sauce.

- Few dashes of Tobasco.

- Pinch of salt and pepper.

- Stir it, don’t shake.

- Strain into glass, over ice.

- Sprinkle more pepper.

- Add a stick of celery.

- Finally, a small splash of red wine (or port), for extra flavour.

So, that’s how we spent our night. If any of you lovely people are stuck indoors with your partner and missing date nights, this is the way to go.

In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we’re doing it again next week.

Needless to say we polished off that vodka.

So, what’s next on the list?

Well, it rhymes with Tin…

By the way, this article was in collaboration with my extremely talented girlfriend.
